Frequently Asked Questions
Can PND help me?
Our naturopathic doctors work with each patient as an individual. Rather than focusing only on a diagnosis or symptom, we look at your health history, lifestyle, nutrition and other factors that may be contributing to your concerns.
We commonly see patients with digestive concerns such as bloating, IBS, constipation, diarrhea, heartburn, reflux, SIBO, and IBD (ulcerative colitis and crohn's) as well as hormone concerns, fatigue, thyroid and metabolic concerns, cardiovascular and blood sugar concerns, autoimmune conditions and other chronic health issues.
Digestive health is a particular focus at PND. If you're wondering whether your specific health concern is a good fit for our approach, contact our team and we'd be happy to help.
Give us a call. You don't need to know whether naturopathic care is right for you before contacting us.
Tell our team a little about what you're looking for help with, and we'll help you determine whether Prairie Naturopathic Doctors may be a good fit for your needs. If we don't think we're the right place for you, we'll let you know.
Our goal is to help you determine the best next step for your health.

If you're not sure whether PND is a good fit for your health concerns, give our team a call. We'd be happy to answer your questions and help you determine the best next step.
We start by taking the time to understand your health story. Your first visit includes a comprehensive history, physical examination and appropriate in-office testing. Your provider then reviews the findings with you and develops an individualized plan based on your health concerns and goals.
First Office Visit Part 1 (FOV1) - 90 min: Comprehensive Exam - We’ll listen to your story and figure out what’s going on. Your visit includes a thorough history, comprehensive physical exam and functional in-house tests at no extra cost including a body composition analysis, bowel toxicity test, digital cardio analysis, nitric oxide and a zinc test.
First Office Visit Part 2 (FOV2) - 60 min: The plan - We'll put together and go through with you a Report of Findings and Treatment Plan (Tests, Therapies, Natural Medicines, Lifestyle changes). This visit is typically a 2-7 days after the FOV1, no additional cost, and dedicating to helping you understand your health and the path to build health.
Return Office Visits (ROV) - 50 min: We meet, listen, conduct a progress exam, review recent results from testing and exam and then go through your updated treatment plan...making the precise adjustments to keep you on track and building health.
Physiotherapy Treatments - 50 min: Naturopathic Physiotherapy - Treatments to build digestive, immune, hormone, and detoxification function to quicken healing and build health.
Manual Treatments - 30 min: Visceral Manipulation - Treatments to restore proper alignment and movement of the organs to improve function. Examples include reducing a stomach hiatal hernia and releasing restrictions around the gallbladder and intestines and hence relieving heartburn, abdominal pain, and constipation.
PND does not participate in insurance networks, and payment is due at the time of service. Coverage varies by plan, so we recommend checking directly with your insurer.

About Naturopathic Care
Naturopathic medicine takes a comprehensive holistic approach to health. In addition to understanding your symptoms and diagnoses, your naturopathic doctor considers factors such as nutrition, digestion, sleep, stress, lifestyle and your overall health history. We ask what is functioning well and what is not functioning well? What is getting in the way of proper function? Recognizing there is an innate healing process at work we ask how is it working and how can we support the process?
The goal is to identify factors that may be contributing to your health concerns and create an individualized plan using nutrition, lifestyle changes, natural medicines, naturopathic therapies and other appropriate treatments.
Naturopathic medicine is a comprehensive healthcare approach that may include nutrition, lifestyle medicine, botanical medicine, physical therapies and other natural treatment approaches including homeopathy. For example, we may prescribe a particular diet, a series of hydrotherapy treatments and a homeopathic medicine. Potentized medicines prescribed homeopathically have been used with great success for over 200 years and we continue that great tradition.
Yes. Many of our patients take prescription medications while receiving naturopathic care.
Your naturopathic doctor will review your current medications and supplements when developing recommendations and consider potential interactions. If changes to prescription medications may be appropriate as your health changes, we'll coordinate decisions with the healthcare professional responsible for prescribing them.
Yes. We encourage you to maintain a relationship with your doctor and other healthcare providers as appropriate.
Naturopathic care can complement the care you receive from your conventional medical team. We focus on understanding the broader picture of your health and identifying factors that may be contributing to your symptoms, while recognizing that conventional medical care can play a role for aspects of your health.
When appropriate, we encourage communication and coordination among your healthcare providers so you can receive well-rounded care.
Not necessarily. Nutrition recommendations are individualized based on your health concerns, goals and findings. Rather than putting every patient on the same diet, your doctor will work with you to develop realistic nutrition recommendations that fit your needs and lifestyle.
